This itinerary starts in Negombo, close to the airport, so you can rest after a long flight, then moves through the island's main regions. Each stop is chosen for the experience it offers, so you get a real feel for Sri Lanka's variety.

Route: Negombo → Sigiriya → Kandy → Ella → Galle

Best for: First-time visitors with a week to spare, and couples or small groups who want variety without a long itinerary.

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1

   Arrival in Negombo

   Transfer from the airport to Negombo, a short drive away. Rest, and enjoy the beach and fish market if you have energy.

2. Day2

   Negombo to Sigiriya

   Drive north to the Cultural Triangle and visit Dambulla Cave Temple on the way.

3. Day3

   Sigiriya to Kandy

   Climb Sigiriya Rock in the morning, then continue to Kandy through the central hills.

4. Day4

   Kandy

   Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and explore Kandy.

5. Day5

   Kandy to Ella

   Travel into the hill country, with scenic stops along the way and a possible train ride.

6. Day6

   Ella to Galle

   Visit the Nine Arch Bridge, then continue south to the coast and Galle.

7. Day7

   Galle and departure

   Walk Galle Fort in the morning, then transfer to the airport.
