About this tour

The coast road south from Bentota passes fishing villages, beaches and small towns. Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, makes a good midpoint, and Mirissa and Weligama are known for their beaches and relaxed atmosphere.

Sea conditions change through the year, and the best beach weather on this coast is generally from around December to April. We help you choose dates and beaches to suit the season.

Route: Bentota → Galle → Mirissa → Weligama

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1

   Airport to Bentota

   Transfer from the airport to Bentota. Spend the afternoon on the beach. A boat trip on the Bentota river can be arranged.

2. Day2

   Bentota to Galle

   Travel down the coast to Galle. Walk the ramparts of Galle Fort, visit the lighthouse and browse the cafés and shops in the old town.

3. Day3

   Galle to Mirissa

   Continue to Mirissa for beach time. In season, an early morning whale watching trip can be arranged.

4. Day4

   Weligama

   Spend the day around Weligama bay. Try a surf lesson or simply relax. Stilt fishermen and local villages can be visited nearby.

5. Day5

   Departure

   Travel back to the airport via the expressway, or extend your stay by the sea.
